Asha'man

Mazrim Taim
Crispin Glover
Mazrim Taim is Saldean and therefore has a hooked nose and high cheekbones. He has been a false dragon and he is conniving so he needs to look a little greasy and suspicious. Crispin Glover does this quite well in almost all of his roles. You may know him from Alice in Wonderland, Epic Movie, Charlie's Angels, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Twister, and of course Back to the Future.

Logain Ablar
Zachary Quinto
Logain is a former false dragon who now serves Rand faithfully. He has long dark hair and is handsome. Zachary Quinto could pull off this look perfectly. You may know him from Heroes, Star Trek, and 24.

Dashiva
Alan Rickman
Dashiva is described as looking like a farmer in his middle years. He is extremely condescending and appears to be slightly insane due to the taint. In reality, of course, he is Osan'gar in disguise. Alan Rickman has convinced me that he can play this role. You may know him from Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd, Love Actually, and Galaxy Quest.

Damer Flinn
Patrick Stewart
Flinn served in the Queen's Guard for quite a long time until he was forced to retire because of injuries. He is quite old with only a fringe of white hair. He has a kind heart and wants to learn to heal more than anything. He is loyal to Rand. Patrick Stewart is the perfect man to play this role as he exemplifies all of these traits. You may know him from X-Men or the old Star Trek movies.

Narishma
Steven Strait
Narishma is Arafellin. He is supposed to be quite handsome and dark. He wears his hair with long dark braids with bells on them and Rand says that Narishma is one of the only Asha'man that he can trust. Stephen Strait is a pretty boy with dark skin and eyes. Put some bells on his hair in the picture to the right and you have Narishma. You might know him from 10,000 BC, The Covenant, and Sky High.

Jur Grady
Patrick Dempsey
Grady is a fairly young Asha'man who has a wife and son who live at the Black Tower. He is only a few years older than Rand. He is especially skilled at Healing and Gateways and Rand trusts him. He is sent to join Perrin's camp with Neald. Patrick Dempsey would do great with this role. You may know him from Grey's Anatomy, Valentine's Day, Made of Honor, Enchanted, Freedom Writers, and Sweet Home Alabama.

Fager Neald
Jude Law
Neald becomes one of Rand's personal bodyguards after Dumai's Wells and later goes with Grady to Perrin's camp. He is Murandian so he has a tiny pointed mustache which we have already seen Jude Law pull off before. You may know him from Sherlock Holmes, The Holiday, The Aviator, and others.

Saml al'Seen
Jean-Luc Bilodeau
A young Asha'man from the Two Rivers, Saml has dark hair. He is one of the youngest boys at the Black Tower. Jean-Luc Bilodeau is an excellent actor and I did not hesitate to look him up when I was thinking of somebody for Saml. You may know him from Kyle XY.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Band of the Red Hand

Talmanes
Joseph Fiennes
Talmanes is a noble who needs to look like he can lead the Band while Mat is gone. He is also Cairhienen so I looked for someone with a prominent forehead. Joseph Fiennes matches all of these descriptions and this picture is even partly what I imagined Talmanes looking like. You may know him from The Merchant of Venice or from the recent Tv series Camelot and Flash Forward.

Lopin
Paul Giamatti
Nobody can play Lopin better than Paul Giamatti. He is the ideal manservant I admit I got this idea from another fantasy list but when I saw it I knew he was gold for this part. You may know him from the John Adams miniseries, Fred Claus, Shoot 'Em Up, The Illusionist, Cinderella Man, Paycheck, Planet of the Apes, and much much more.

Aludra
Claire Forlani
Aludra is described as having waist-length dark hair. She is in her 30s and she is pretty. Claire fits this description very well. From this picture I think she can pull off Aludra's fiery temper as well. You may know her from Meet Joe Black or from the recent Tv series Camelot.

Olver
Alex Wolff
Olver is an orphan boy that the band takes in. He's supposed to be a little scruffy and he begins to take after Mat and so he should have a little bit of a mischievous side. He is described as being ugly. Alex isn't exactly ugly but he's pretty average and they could pull off ugly with a little makeup. You may know him from the Naked Brothers Band.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

Perrin's Camp

Morgase

Marg Helgenberger

At first I wanted Nicole Kidman for Morgase, but then I changed my mind and decided on Marg Helgenberger. Morgase must be wise, beautiful, with long red-gold curls, and royal. Marg fits all of these descriptions. I think she will do a wonderful job. You may recognize her from CSI.

Tallanvor
Nathan Fillion

Tallanvor must have some age but still be handsome. He is basically the only member of the Queen's Guard who stayed loyal to Morgase as she loses her throne. He must be a quiet, loyal, obedient soldier who is also in love with his Queen. I can see a romance springing up between Marg and Nathan. You may know him from Firefly or Serenity. More recently he is in the Tv series Castle.

Lini
Maggie Smith

Maggie Smith is one of my very favorite old people and she would be perfect for Lini. She must constantly be giving advice and be someone who has obviously grown wise with her years. Maggie Smith will do this job well. You may know her from Harry Potter, Becoming Jane, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Sister Act, Hook, and plenty more.

Elyas Machera
Dennis Quaid

Elyas must be older and he is an ex-warder so he has to be tough and wise. He is also a Wolfbrother so he needs to be a little scruffy. I remembered Dennis Quaid in Dragonheart and that started my consideration of Dennis Quaid for Elyas. In the end I didn't find anyone that I liked better for the role so I gave it to him. You may also know him from G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Yours, Mine and Ours, The Day After Tomorrow, The Rookie, The Parent Trap and many more.
Aram
Logan Lermon
Aram must be handsome. At first he follows the Way of the Leaf but later abandons it and becomes somwhat of a brooding person. He is about the same age as the other main characters. I liked Logan Lermon for this part from the beginning. I could easily see Logan living the Way of the Leaf and I could also see him becoming a brooding warrior later on. Logan is a fantastic actor in everything I have seen him in. I considered him for Gawyn Trakand, but he didn't really match the description and that is when I thought of Aram. You may recognize him from Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Gamer, Meet Bill, 3:10 to Yuma, and Hoot.

Sebban Balwer
Michael Emerson

I saw this recommendation on another fantasy cast list and Michael Emerson is PERFECT for Balwer. A chief spy and scribe/informant. He has to be squirrely and can't you just see Michael Emerson with ink stains on his face and fingers? You may know him from Lost.

Berelain sur Paendrag
Rose Mcgowan
She's hot. She has large breasts. Berelain.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Emond's Fielders

Tam al'Thor
Russel Crowe
We have seen Russel Crowe many times in warrior roles and we know he can pull off a fighter. They would have to make him a bit older looking but this picture of Russel Crowe makes me think of Tam. His role in A Beautiful Mind actually made me think of him for Tam. You may know him from Gladiator, Cinderella Man, 3:10 to Yuma, and Robin Hood.

Bran al'Vere
William Shatner
Bran is described in the books as being somewhat round, short, and kindly but with an air of authority. I think Shatner is perfect for this role. This picture in particular looks exactly how I pictured Bran looking. You may know him from old school Star Trek or Miss Congeniality. Most recently William Shatner has famously appeared on the Priceline commercials.

Marin al'Vere
Madonna
Marin al'Vere is described as being slender and motherly. She has gray hair and is considered a handsome woman. I looked for an attractive older woman and I found her in Madonna who I think looks like a perfect fit to play Marin. You may know her as a famous singer and performer as well as movies like A League of Their Own or Die Another Day.

Haral Luhhan
"Stonecold" Steve Austin

Haral Luhhan is a huge man. He is the blacksmith of the village and therefore should have muscles the size of children. I wanted a pro wrestler or body builder to play the role rather than getting someone like Vin Diesel (Who I use as Shadair Haran). You may know him from Wrestlemania. Steve Austin has also done some acting though it is not extensive.

Alsbet Luhhan
Conchata Ferrell

A strong, leather-tongued blacksmith's wife? There is nobody better than Concahta Ferrell. You may know her from Two and a Half Men or Mr. Deeds.

Cenn Buie
Ian Holm
Cenn Buie is the oldest member of the Village Council and the biggest pain in the butt in the entire Two Rivers region. He is always grumbling about something and thinks everyone needs a good talking-to. Ian Holm could play this role well. You may know him from The Aviator, The Day After Tomorrow, and Lord of the Rings.

Padan Fain
Steve Buscami

Last but not least. Steve Buscami could easily play a peddler but when he becomes a Moridin/Shadow Darkfriend creature thing he has got to be creepy and twisted. Steve Buscami can do this without even trying. You may know him from Grown Ups, 30 Rock, Youth in Revolt, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, Big Fish, Spy Kids, Mr. Deeds, and others.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Sheinarians

Uno Monesta
Jason Statham
Jason Statham strikes me as a guy who is loyal and a warrior. Uno fits that description exactly. Jason Statham would look even more badass with one eye. I just think he looks Sheinarian. You may know him from The Mechanic, The Expendables, Crank, Cellular, and the Italian Job.

Masema
Wentworth Miller
Masema is an interesting character. He is not exactly a Darkfriend but I suppose he helps the shadow enough. I needed someone who looked Sheinarian but could pull off rabid obsession and set up his own religion with himself at the head. Wentworth Miller was actually the first person to come to mind. You may know him from Resident Evil: Afterlife, Prison Break, Underworld, and Dinotopia.

Ingtar
Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Ingtar has got to be handsome and a natural leader. He must also be able to pull off both a Darkfriend and a good person which I think Jonathan Rhys Meyers does brilliantly. I wanted him to be a little bit younger. I don't exactly know why but it just feels right. You may know him from August Rush, Mission: Impossible III, and Alexander.

Hurin
Tony Shalhoub
Tony Shalhoub was a shoe-in for the famous sniffer. Couldn't you just see this guy leading the other Sheinarians around but also being paranoid about his ability and playing the subservient role to Rand in the parallel world and in Cairhien? You may know him from Monk, 1408, Spy Kids, Men in Black, Galaxy Quest, and more.

I chose not to cast Lord Agelmar though I suppose I should. I will update this post with a casting for Lord Agelmar at some point in the future.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Whitecloaks

Galad Damodred
James Franco
Galad is probably one of the most handsome characters in the entire book but he is also one of the biggest pricks. James Franco is a handsome guy and plays a prick pretty well (see the Spiderman movies). Throw a white cloak with a sunburst on him and you have Galad Damodred. You may also know him from Tristan + Isolde, Flyboys, Pineapple Express, or the tv show General Hospital.

Pedron Niall
Ian McKellen
Pedron Niall is/was the Lord Captain Commander of the Children of the Light. He is described as being an old man, all bone and skin like parchment. However, he is not a frail man. He is strong. He is considered one of the five Great Captains. He is aggressive and tries to expand Whitecloak holdings. Ian McKellen can play strong roles with ease. You may know him from the Lord of the Rings movies, X-Men, The DaVinci Code, and many others.

Byar
Donald Sutherland
He is often described as looking like a skull. He is tall and old and speaks with no emotion. He is fiercely loyal to Geofram Bornhald, his leader, and becomes rabid with hate for Perrin. Donald Sutherland is a perfect match for this role. You may know him from The Eagle, Fool's Gold, An American Haunting, Pride & Prejudice, The Italian Job, and several others.

Geofram Bornhald
Clive Owen
Geofram is an older man but he does not have white hair quite yet. We would have to put a beard on Clive Owen but he could pull of the part well. Geofram, although a Whitecloak, is a pretty decent guy when all is said and done. Besides, Clive Owen looks like he could be the father of the guy I picked to play Dain. You may know him from Duplicity, Shoot 'Em Up, Children of Men, Sin City, King Arthur, The Bourne Identity, and many more.

Dain Bornhald

Jamie BellAfter seeing The Eagle, I knew I wanted Jamie Bell for my Wheel of Time cast. I considered him for Mat but in the end I felt like he better matched Dain's character. Jamie Bell is good at looking like he is holding back a lot of anger and that is practically all Dain does. I am very pleased with this decision. You may also know Jamie from Jane Eyre, Defiance, Jumper, Flags of Our Fathers, King Kong, and Billy Elliot.

Jaichim Carridin
David Duchovny
I needed someone who could play a Questioner/Darkfriend in a non-assuming way. I think David Duchovny could do this quite well. Anyway, I just think he looks like a Bors. You may know him from
The X Files, Zoolander, or Evolution.

Valda
Rufus Sewell
Nobody can play the role of Valda better than Rufus Sewell. If you have any doubts just go watch A Knight's Tale and those doubts will disappear. He is every inch what Valda is described to be. You may also know him from The Tourist, The Holiday, The Illusionist, Tristan + Isolde, and The Legend of Zorro, among others.

Asunawa
Christopher Lee
High Inquisitor of the Hand of the Light. He wants every single person who has even thought about channeling killed and every word about the One Power burned out of existence. Nuff said. You may know him from Season of the Witch, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Golden Compass, Sleep Hollow, and more.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Aiel
Amys

Kathy Bates

Amys is an Aiel with white hair and she is very motherly. She has to be likeable since for me Amys is probably the most well-liked Aiel after Aviendha. In my opinion, Kathy Bates is perfect for the role of Amys. She is lovable and funny but she can also be serious when the situation requires it. You may know her from Titanic, Annie, Around the World in 80 Days, The Golden Compass, and The Blindside as well as dozens of others.

BairJudi Dench
Bair is a Wise One who can't channel. She is old enough to have trained Amys to be a Wise One so she is very old. I kind of got the feeling she was kind of clipped and rude whenever she speaks (especially compared to Amys) and Judi Dench has shown that she can do that with her recent roles in the James Bond movies. You may also know her from Pride and Prejudice, Chocolat, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Hamlet.

Gaul

Oliver Phelps

In the books Gaul is described as being tall and handsome with red hair (as most Aiel are described btw) and Oliver Phelps was the first person that came to mind. I think he could easily pull off an Aiel. Although I love Gaul, he doesn't really do much in the later books except pal around Perrin's camp and make Aiel jokes, especially about Bain and Chiad. Plus couldn't you just see him juggling two beautiful gai'shan? Oliver could definitely handle this. You may know him from Harry Potter.

Rhuarc

Chuck Norris

Rhuarc is a clan chief and is described as being tall with red hair and muscular. He is married to Amys. I really couldn't find anybody I liked for this role because none of them were tough enough. Then I came across Chuck Norris and thought that he would be perfect if he wasn't so famous for being himself. If you don't know him then you don't live on this planet.

Bain
Alicia Witt

Tall, beautiful, red hair. Alicia Witt was a shoe-in for either Bain or Chiad. I decided to cast her as Bain. You may know her from Mr. Holland's Opus or Two Weeks Notice. You may have also seen her on Law & Order: Criminal Intent or Friday Night Lights.

Chiad
Regiane Alves
Another beautiful Aiel babe. Regiane Alves is not very known here in the USA but she is an actress in Brazil. I don't know. She just sort of caught my eye for Chiad and I couldn't let go of it.

Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Seanchan

Alivia
Michelle Pfeiffer
Alivia is arguably the most important Seanchan in the book so it seems logical to start with her. She is described as having blue eyes and golden yellow hair with some white. She is quite old but the power has kept her looking somewhat young. She is also supposed to be tall. Because of Alivia's mysterious nature and possible betrayal of Rand, I chose Michelle Pfeiffer to play her. Not only does she look the part but she has played mischievous roles numerous times. You may know her from Scarface, Ladyhawke, Batman Returns, A Midsummer Night's Dream, White Oleander, Hairspray, and Stardust. (You may not be able to tell, but I really really am a fan of Michelle Pfeiffer).

Tuon
Gabrielle Union
Tuon is described as having dark skin. She is young and thin. I imagine her having a perpetually pissed off and/or uninterested air about her which Gabrielle Union does a great job of. Once I found Gabrielle for Tuon, I couldn't even consider anyone else. You may know her from the Tv show 7th Heaven, the movies 10 Things I Hate About You and Bring It On, or more recently on the Tv shows Ugly Betty, Life, and Flash Forward.

Egeanin
Lucy Lawless
You knew she was going to show up somewhere! Lucy Lawless is perfect to play a tough ship captain of the Seanchan Empire. Nobody can play this role as well as this warrior princess. (By the way I stole this idea from another fan cast list). You may know her as Xena or more recently from Battlestar Galactica or the Spartacus tv shows.

Anath
Joy BryantSemirhage masquerades as Anath at one point. The character would not have much on screen time but I feel it is important. She is one of Tuon's retainers. Since Semirhage is dark-skinned I just assumed Anath would be too but I honestly can't remember from the books. You may know her from the movie Honey, the Tv show ER, or the recent Tv show Parenthood.

Renna Emain
Jordana Brewster
Renna is described as having long brown hair and brown eyes. She is short and is relatively young. Couldn't you just see her putting an a'dam on Egwene's pretty neck?

Selucia
Cameron Diaz
Selucia is described in the books as a blue eyed, blonde haired beauty with creamy skin. She is supposed to be around forty years old. Selucia is Tuon's so'jhin and she is known to be deadly. Cameron can definitely handle this role. You may know her from The Mask, Charlie's Angels, The Holiday, What Happens in Vegas, and Knight and Day.

Suroth
Demi Moore
An important darkfriend and Seanchan, Suroth is described as having black eyes and dark hair. Suroth is definitely a bitch and Demi can pull that off really well. Also, Suroth has the sides of her head shaved and I just so happened to find a picture of Demi so you know she can pull off a shaved head. You may know her from Ghost, A Few Good Men, The Scarlett Letter, and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

Turak
Kevin Durand
The only male Seanchan I chose to cast was Turak. He is described as tall with dark eyes and a completely shaved head. He is a blademaster and is a pretty arrogant guy. I feel like Kevin Durand would play this role well. Also, I would love to see him fight with the actor I chose for Rand. You may know him from the Tv shows Stargate SG-1 and Dark Angel as well as the movies The Butterfly Effect, Wild Hogs, 3:10 to Yuma, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Robin Hood, and I Am Number Four. He is probably most famous for his role on the Tv show Lost.
