Wheel of Time Fantasy Cast

The Miscellaneous Folk
These are all the people who I couldn't really find a group for. Some of them are pretty important and a couple are not so important but obviously they were important enough for me to cast since there were a lot of people who I left out entirely.

Lews Therin Telamon

Daniel Craig
Lews Therin Telamon I have selected Daniel Craig. You probably know him as James Bond or from the movies Defiance, The Golden Compass, or Tomb Raider. He looks exactly how I pictured Lews Therin to look and, in a strange coincidence that pleases me immensely, looks somewhat like the actor I chose to play Rand. After seeing Casino Royale, Daniel Craig convinced me that he could play a crazy person.

Llyena
Helen Hunt

Llyena is not a character who would see a lot of screen time but she is a very important character. She is described as having red-gold hair and being quite beautiful. After some debate I chose Helen Hunt to play Daniel Craig's wife. You may know her from What Women Want, Cast Away, Pay It Forward, or (if you go back far enough to the good old days) Twister.

Queen Tylin
Famke Janssen

Although I did not picture her this way, Queen Tylin is described as having long black hair. Mix that with promiscuous and a "handsome face" and you get Famke Janssen. Here she is playing Queen Tylin to a T. You may know her from the TV series Nip/Tuck or from the X-Men movies.

Jain Farstrider
Ian McDiarmid
Although not revealed until ToM, Jain Farstrider has been around the series for a while. He has traveled all over the world and is described as a scrawny old man who stoops. He must also pull off being a very wise character. It is a long fall from Emperor of the Galactic Empire to a simple traveler, but I think Ian McDiarmid would do just fine with the role. He is best known for Star Wars.

Rodel Ituralde
Gary Oldman
I knew I wanted Gary Oldman to be one of my generals and he fits Ituralde perfectly. I have seen other fans put him as Bashere, but I feel like he fits this role much better. Ituralde must be a little rough and he is an older man but strong. He also has to be likeable. You may recognize Gary Oldman from Christopher Nolan's recent Batman movies or Harry Potter most recently.

Bayle Domon
John Rhys Davies

Domon shows up in the first book and sticks around for quite a while, randomly appearing in books all the way throughout the series. John Rhys Davies fits the role of Bayle Domon perfectly. He is loud, tall, commanding, and we all know and love him. He has significant roles in the Lord of the Rings movies and Indiana Jones.

Someshta (The Green Man)
Sean Connery

Someshta is an iconic figure in the first book of the series who doesn't live very long. He is sort of like a mother nature or father time figure. Who is more iconic than Sean Connery? They would only need his voice for the role and we all know that Sean Connery has a great voice. If you don't know him you should just go jump off a cliff right now.

Shadair Haran
Vin DieselShadair Haran is not just any Fade. He is the big boss. He has to be intimidating and strong but he also has to be able to pull of the whole no eyes thing. Well, we've seen pretty close to that in The Chronicles of Riddick when Vin Diesel had white eyes. I have always imagined Fades to be somewhat wimpy (i.e. no huge muscles) but Shadair Haran breaks all the rules of traditional Fades. I found this picture that a fan did of Shadair Haran and it looks perfect.

Davram Bashere

Tom Selleck
Another one of the great generals. Bashere needed to be an older man, but with gray/silver in his hair and beard. I just think Tom Selleck looks much more like a Saldean than Gary Oldman. Selleck looks like he could play a wise general with a gruff side. You may know him recently from the Tv show Las Vegas or back in his day for Magnum, P.I. and Murder, She Wrote.

Gareth Bryne
Harrison Ford
How could I not give the role of the greatest general to one of the greatest actors who ever lived? Harrison Ford would nail the role of Bryne in all situations he finds himself in. He was one of the first roles I cast and I have never second guessed this decision. You may know him from Stars Wars and Indiana Jones or from The Fugitive and Patriot Games. Recently he has done several movies in the last few years including Firewall and Extraordinary Measures.

Isam
Eric Bana
I agree completely with another fantasy cast that I saw on the selection of Eric Bana as Isam. He is an extremely important character who has been involved in the series for quite a while. Isam is Malkieri and the books mention that Nynaeve mistakes him for Lan the first time she sees him. He looked much like the character I cast for Lan. You may know him from The Time Traveler's Wife, Star Trek, Troy, or Hulk.

Lord Luc
David Tennant
Although not as important as Isam, Lord Luc still has a role to play in the series. I was looking for someone weasely who looked somewhat Andoran and the first person who came to mind was David Tennant. He has the look of Andoran royalty to him and could very easily play someone who is somewhat crazy because of the merger of two souls (Check out his role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). You may know him from Harry Potter, Hamlet or the Tv show Blackpool or Dr. Who. I am also pleased to announce that he is rumored to play Thranduil in The Hobbit: Part 1 which is currently in pre-production according to imdb.com.
